What's In My Clinical Bag?

Hi Nursing Friends--
I've seen so many people blog or post videos on YouTube about this so I thought I'd give it a go! I am only going to include things you really need. A lot of people have endorsements to sell products, so just keep that in mind when you are referring to other posts.
I am a senior nursing student- so I've been through it all, I know exactly what you need!

  1. A sturdy bag. It doesn't have to be nice or have a lot of pockets. I use a free tote bag that I got from a resort in Mexico. It fits everything I need! A backpack will do you just fine.
  2. Binders. Have a binder for each clinical in your bag, fill it with everything your class requires. BRING EXTRA PAPER!
  3. At least two black pens and one highlighter- because you'll need it.
  4. Chapstick- hospitals dry your lips out.
  5. A clip board. I bought a White Coat Clipboard and I really like it because you can fold it and it fits into your pocket- worth the splurge.
  6. Report sheets- print yourself many and keep them on hand. Make your own!
  7. A watch. I use a fob watch and just keep it in my pocket. It keeps my wrists clean and dry... Nobody likes C. Diff under their watch.
  8. Pen light. Most likely will be in your "clinical bag" which you have to purchase. If not find a cheap one on Amazon. Don't spend a lot of money on it, these things break so easily and the battery life sucks.
  9. Shears. This is a must... I don't know how many times I couldn't get a pill wrapper open or needed to cut something ASAP.
  10. Your stethoscope. Because, duh. You need to listen to those lung sounds, bowel sounds, and heart tones. Also, you'll probably want to buy a nice one for college, but don't buy a too nice one because you'll want another one when you graduate (lol). I also have some charms on mine.
  11. Your badge and a badge reel. The badge reel isn't really necessary but it is nice to accessorize.
  12. A purse insert to keep all of your clinical stuff from floating around in your bag, also protects your stethoscope.
  13. A Meg/Surg pocket guide or clinical companion. I suggest Medical-Surgical Nursing 9th ed. by Lewis.
  14. A nice big lunch box... Because you'll have a long day and will need at least one meal and a few snacks!
  15. A large water bottle... My absolute favorite and essential for my living is Nathan 1 Liter bottles.
That's All Folks!

Thanks for reading!

Benefit They're Real VS. Too Faced Better Than Sex

The ultimate mascara review! If you are even slightly a bit of a make up addict you probably have heard about both Benefit's They're Real and Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. I have tested them both out and feel confident I can give you an honest review on both of these mascaras. To be upfront I'll tell you that I prefer lengthening mascara, black black black mascara, non-waterproof, and a product that isn't going to smudge or flake off! I also bought these mascaras thinking that if I didn't like one or both of them I am definitely going to return them. Twenty some dollars is way too much money to spend on a product that doesn't work. So- here is how I tested the products: I wore all the mascara without any other eye makeup to determine smudging, flaking, etc. Day 1- I wore Too Faced Better Than Sex on both eyes Day 2- I wore Benefit's They're Real! on both eyes Day 3- I wore Too Faced on the left eye, Benefit on the right eye Day 4- I

Marilyn & Daddy-O by LUSH Review

This week I will be reviewing two products from LUSH Cosmetics. LUSH is a mostly natural, handmade, organic cosmetic store. If you've ever been to one of their stores you know they are addicting! They create anything from henna hair dye to perfume. It's pretty cool, the only downfall is that most of their products are pretty expensive!

Nursing School 101: Everything You Need to Know Before You Go

Hey guys! This week I won’t be doing a product review. I am going to write about my experience with nursing school. I hope that this blog helps anyone who is going, looking, or dreaming about going through nursing school!   Before I started nursing school I was really curious about it and searched the internet for videos and blogs. I’ve noticed that a lot of nurses and nursing stories online (and in real life) are very negative. I found this to be really depressing and I questi oned if I did the right thing by switching my major. I decided that I was going to have a positive mindset and enjoy the process. I hope that this blog leaves you with a better understanding and a positive mindset before you head off to school!
