Battle of the Drugstore BB Cream's: Physician's Formula Organic Wear VS. Revlon Photoready

Hey guys!
This week I will be reviewing two more BB creams! (Well, one BB cream and one tinted moisturizer). The Physician’s Formula Organic Wear and Revlon’s Photoready. If you read last weeks’ post, you will know I am on the hunt for a great drugstore BB cream. Head over to my L’Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BBCream review to see everything I had to say about that!

Physicians Formula Organic Wear

About the product

This product claims to hydrate, nourish, protect, defend, sooth, and brighten your skin. It also claims to be 10K proof, gym proof, sweat resistant, and water resistant. It has 70% organic ingredients. Contains at kale, carrot, lemon, and quinoa protein blend. As well as a super berry complex. It’s free of harsh chemicals, preservatives, parabens, GMO’s, synthetic colors, fragrances, and is cruelty free. It also contains SPF 40. Impressive, right?!

Price

$13.23 for 1.2 fl. oz at Walmart. This one is one of the more expensive drugstore BB Creams. I normally really like Physician’s Formula products so I was eager to try this one!

How I applied it

I applied this product over my CeraVe moisturizer. I used a beauty blender to apply it evenly all over my face. It was simple and easy to apply. I was glad I didn’t have to apply this product with my fingers.

Initial Thoughts

The make up itself is a very nice consistency and texture. It applied very smoothly all over my face. I initially thought that this product would be too dark for my skin color, but it was a perfect match. It has a medium coverage and covered my imperfections nicely. It did feel heavy on my skin (I am not use to wearing liquid make up). I felt as though it was a similar feeling to sunscreen. It had a very dewy finish (I had to use it with my BareMineral’s Mineral Veil). It was a little too dewy and heavy for my liking. I did notice that around my mouth it was making my skin look flakey and dry. I was hoping that this would go away once my natural oils set in.

8 hours later

The make up didn’t turn orange on me! It controlled my oil amazingly. I didn’t have any shine on my forehead or nose for over 8 hours. The make up itself stayed on pretty well, it had minimal wear. It was comfortable on my face and didn’t cause me any itching problems. But—my flakey spots were even drier looking. I was not happy about that. It may have been the very cold weather, but this has never happened to me before with make up.

Overall thoughts

I had much higher expectations for this makeup! I don’t think it worked for me. It made me look like my skin was peeling! I feel like this make up would be great for someone with very oily skin, not combination skin. It defiantly controlled the oily parts of my face! I think that this make up would work better for me in the summer months when its hot out and my skin is oilier!

Likes

Paraben free, cruelty free, high SPF, fragrance free, keeps skin oil free, good coverage, applied easily and smoothly, color was a perfect match, and cute packaging.

Dislikes

Slightly expensive, and made my skin dry/flakey around my mouth/cheeks.

Buy/use again?

For now, I am not going to use this product again. I think that it would be better for me over the summer months when it’s hot! I may try it again then. I see a lot of pro’s to this product but I just can’t stand the dry “peeling” skin around my mouth ☹️

Revlon Photoready BB Cream

About the product

The packaging on this product was very simple compared to the Physician’s Formula BB Cream. It claims to be a skin perfector, and has SPF 30.

Price

I bought it for $10.95 for 1 fl. oz at Walmart. This drugstore BB cream isn’t too cheap!

How I applied it

I applied this product over my CeraVe moisturizer. I used a beauty blender to apply it evenly all over my face. It’s consistency made it slightly harder to apply.

Initial thoughts

The make up has a thick consistency. It is not liquidy at all. It was a little hard to smooth and blend with with my beauty blender but it does go evenly all over the face. The color I got was way too light for my skin tone (I should have gotten the light/medium shade). It has a light coverage. It felt very heavy on my skin and was making me feel very uncomfortable. It has an even dewier finish than the Physician’s Formula. It made my skin look oily on application. It felt like really heavy sunscreen and it smells exactly like sunscreen. I had to use a setting powder to reduce the sticky oiliness. I also used bronzer to add some color to my face because this color was way too light for me. I did notice “flakiness” under my eyes and around my mouth (not as bad as PF).

8 hours later

Oil. Oil. Oil. I looked so oily at about 4 hours in. I had to use some blotting sheets. I continued to get oily for the rest of the day. I felt like the make up stayed on just okay. I did notice throughout the day I could feel it on my skin (this was really irritating to me). I was really just shocked at how oily my skin got especially after using the Physician’s Formula the day before.

Overall thoughts

I felt like this BB cream was not worth the money! I didn’t like how oily my skin got. I felt like my skin was uncomfortable all day. The color was too light for my skin tone so I washed me out and made me look tired. The make up wore off a fair amount, but it wasn’t terrible. I didn’t like this BB Cream ☹️

Likes

SPF 40, creamy consistency, and can apply it with a beauty blender.

Dislikes

Felt heavy on the skin, didn’t control oil, poor color choice, and wore off.

Buy/Use again?

I am not going to use this product again. I hear a lot of good things about Revlon and definitely think that it was worth a shot! It just didn’t control my oiliness.

Benefit They're Real VS. Too Faced Better Than Sex

The ultimate mascara review! If you are even slightly a bit of a make up addict you probably have heard about both Benefit's They're Real and Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. I have tested them both out and feel confident I can give you an honest review on both of these mascaras. To be upfront I'll tell you that I prefer lengthening mascara, black black black mascara, non-waterproof, and a product that isn't going to smudge or flake off! I also bought these mascaras thinking that if I didn't like one or both of them I am definitely going to return them. Twenty some dollars is way too much money to spend on a product that doesn't work. So- here is how I tested the products: I wore all the mascara without any other eye makeup to determine smudging, flaking, etc. Day 1- I wore Too Faced Better Than Sex on both eyes Day 2- I wore Benefit's They're Real! on both eyes Day 3- I wore Too Faced on the left eye, Benefit on the right eye Day 4- I

Marilyn & Daddy-O by LUSH Review

This week I will be reviewing two products from LUSH Cosmetics. LUSH is a mostly natural, handmade, organic cosmetic store. If you've ever been to one of their stores you know they are addicting! They create anything from henna hair dye to perfume. It's pretty cool, the only downfall is that most of their products are pretty expensive!

Nursing School 101: Everything You Need to Know Before You Go

Hey guys! This week I won’t be doing a product review. I am going to write about my experience with nursing school. I hope that this blog helps anyone who is going, looking, or dreaming about going through nursing school!   Before I started nursing school I was really curious about it and searched the internet for videos and blogs. I’ve noticed that a lot of nurses and nursing stories online (and in real life) are very negative. I found this to be really depressing and I questi oned if I did the right thing by switching my major. I decided that I was going to have a positive mindset and enjoy the process. I hope that this blog leaves you with a better understanding and a positive mindset before you head off to school!
